Legaltech Hub’s Stephanie Wilkins sat down with Landfall IP co-founders Michael Drapkin and Nathan Mutter for its “The Law Firm Rebooted” series, a look at the firms reshaping how legal services are built and delivered.

In the interview, Drapkin and Mutter trace the decade they spent breaking the patent process into a production pipeline, and the GenAI “lightbulb moment” that finally completed it. They explain what it really means to be an AI-native law firm, one designed from the ground up with AI at its core rather than a traditional practice with AI bolted on, and how that lets a small team of senior attorneys deliver work that is faster, higher in quality, and lower in cost. They also unpack why the Innovator’s Dilemma makes it so hard for established firms to follow.

They close by looking five years ahead, stating that the firms that thrive will be the ones willing to disrupt themselves, and they offer candid advice for anyone thinking about building an AI-native law firm of their own.
